Sprints & High Jump Advanced Training Session Description This training day is divided into two sessions, allowing athletes to focus on sprint performance in the morning and advanced high jump development in the afternoon. Morning Session – Sprints (AM) The morning session will focus on sprint development, with an emphasis on acceleration, sprint mechanics, and running efficiency. Athletes will begin with a dynamic warm-up including mobility exercises, activation drills, and sprint drills to properly prepare the body for high-intensity running. The main part of the session will focus on acceleration work and short sprint repetitions designed to improve explosive starts and the drive phase. Athletes will also complete technical drills that reinforce proper sprint posture, arm action, and stride frequency. The goal is to help athletes develop stronger acceleration, better coordination, and more efficient sprint mechanics. Afternoon Session – High Jump Advanced (Above 1.35m) (PM) The afternoon session will focus on advanced high jump athletes who are currently jumping 1.35m and above. This session will concentrate on refining technical aspects of the event while improving power, approach rhythm, and consistency. Athletes will begin with a specific warm-up including mobility work, running drills, and jumping exercises to prepare for high-intensity efforts. The main part of the session will focus on the curved approach, take-off mechanics, and body position over the bar. Athletes will practice approach runs, short and full approach jumps, and technical drills to improve timing, coordination, and take-off power. Additional plyometric exercises may be included to support explosive strength and jumping ability. The aim of the session is to refine technique, build consistency in the approach, and help athletes achieve greater height and efficiency in their jumps. The session will conclude with a cool-down and stretching to support recovery and reduce injury risk.
