Long Jump Advanced & Sprints Training Session Description This training day is split into two sessions, allowing athletes to focus on advanced long jump technical development in the morning and sprint performance in the afternoon. Morning Session – Long Jump Advanced (Above 3.80m) (AM) The morning session will focus on advanced long jump athletes who are currently jumping above 3.80m. The session will emphasize refining technical elements of the event and developing greater speed, power, and consistency in the approach and take-off. Athletes will begin with a dynamic warm-up including mobility exercises, sprint drills, and activation work to prepare for high-intensity jumping. The main part of the session will focus on approach accuracy, take-off mechanics, and flight control. Athletes will work on maintaining rhythm and speed throughout the runway while hitting the board consistently. Training will include full and short approach jumps, bounding drills, and plyometric exercises designed to improve explosive power and coordination. The focus will be on producing a strong, controlled take-off while maintaining efficient body positions in flight and during landing. Afternoon Session – Sprints (PM) The afternoon session will focus on sprint development, targeting acceleration, sprint mechanics, and speed endurance. Athletes will begin with a sprint-specific warm-up including mobility work, activation drills, and running drills to reinforce good sprint technique. The main part of the session will include acceleration work, short sprint repetitions, and technical drills designed to improve posture, stride frequency, and arm action. Athletes will focus on explosive starts, efficient drive phase mechanics, and maintaining strong sprint form as speed increases. The session will finish with a cool-down and mobility work to support recovery and maintain flexibility. Overall, the combination of advanced long jump training and sprint development helps athletes build the speed and power required for improved jumping performance.
