Sprints & High Jump Beginners Training Session Description This training day is divided into two sessions to allow athletes to focus on both sprint development and introductory high jump technique. Morning Session – Sprints (AM) The morning session will focus on sprint development, with an emphasis on acceleration, sprint mechanics, and overall running efficiency. Athletes will begin with a dynamic warm-up including mobility exercises, activation drills, and sprint drills to prepare the body for high-speed work. The main part of the session will focus on acceleration work and short sprint repetitions. Athletes will practice explosive starts, drive phase mechanics, and maintaining proper sprint posture. Drills will also be included to reinforce effective arm action, stride rhythm, and coordination. The goal of the session is to develop stronger acceleration and improve overall sprint technique. Afternoon Session – High Jump Beginners (Below 1.35m) (PM) The afternoon session will focus on beginner high jump athletes who are currently jumping below 1.35m. The session will emphasize learning and developing the basic technical elements of the event in a controlled and supportive environment. Athletes will begin with a warm-up that includes mobility, running drills, and basic jumping exercises. The main part of the session will focus on the fundamentals of high jump, including the curved approach, take-off mechanics, and body position over the bar. Athletes will practice short approach jumps and simple drills to help develop confidence, rhythm, and coordination. The aim of the session is to build strong technical foundations while improving jumping confidence and understanding of the event. The session will finish with a cool-down and stretching to support recovery.
